Millions of Americans - today - experience living in a beautiful home. But many of these same Americans, who have paid thousands of dollars to purchase their homes, refuse to spend a little more money to protect them. That just doesn't seem like a very reasonable - or wise - decision. Yet it is possible to protect our homes from intruders, smoke and fire damage and more. What are your options when it comes to buying a home security system? Well, for starters you can choose a video surveillance security system. These make use of cameras directly connected to a display monitor. With this type of system, you can monitor every critical area of your home, including bedrooms, garage area and entranceways. Another option for you might be a wireless security camera system. You can purchase wireless cameras for use either outdoors or indoors. With a wireless camera you do not have to worry about installing power or transmission cables between the security camera and console unit. The signals from a wireless security camera are transmitted wirelessly, and picked up by a receiving unit on the other end. Still another option is the more high-tech infrared security camera. Unlike many animals, humans cannot see in the infrared range - but special purpose cameras have been designed to capture images using light of this type. This means that if you have to monitor a dark attic, basement area, unlighted garage or back porch, you can install an infrared camera and it will operate even in 'pitch black' conditions. But, what if money is limited? Are there cheap home security cameras available - models that are inexpensive and yet are of decent quality? Yes, there are - in fact you can find some models for under $30 dollars. But if you really want to save some money, you can purchase dummy (fake) security cameras. They look and function just like the real ones - except that they do not capture images, or record events. They are just a public deterrent when they are prominently displayed. In our brave new world, it is now possible to hook up a computer to one or more security cameras. Using a media player or special-purpose browser, the images captured and transmitted can now be viewed directly on your computer screen. So while you are off playing the slots in Las Vegas, you can keep an eye on your home in Pittsburgh! Yes, as a homeowner you have a lot of options when it comes to purchasing security cameras. So, the question remains: who WOULDN'T protect their valuable home with a good security camera?
