Bidets are getting more popular

By: Scott Rodgers

For much of the post-industrialized world the bidet is the toilet of choice, however, it is rather uncommon in the United States.
Toilet manufacturers would be thrilled if we all went out and bought one, but firstly we need to understand what precisely a bidet is.
Bider in old French, means to trot, and bidet is, believe it or not, the French word for pony. In the same way as one rides a pony, so it was considered that one rode a bidet. It is, in fact, the most hygienic way of using a toilet, not that riding a toilet sounds especially pleasant.
There remains no absolutely proven creator of the bidet. The earliest written reference was in 1710 when it was used in the bedroom. By the 20th century it had moved to the bathroom with the arrival of significant plumbing improvements.
The electronic bidet was made in 1960 and had an attachment which connects the traditional bidet to the conventional toilet arrangements. You can select between either a separate toilet and bidet or the two combined nowadays.
So, what precisely does it do? Well, to put it quite simply, it sends out a soothing stream of water to clean your bottom when it is turned on. Depending on your preference, you then have the option of using toilet paper as well.
It is more hygienic than wiping with toilet paper alone. Yes, studies have proven it.
Japan and South Korea went a step further in 1980 by introducing paperless toilets. The bidet dries the user after washing using a combination toilet and bidet. In the middle of the night you will never again run out of toilet paper.
You can even improve this combination by adding a toilet seat warmer, for those of you who live in colder climes.
These combination bidets have been very popular, especially in hotels. They are now sold in the United States and are becoming popular in some of our prime institutions and businesses. You can, therefore, purchase them for your dwelling if this interests you.|If this interests you, it is possible to purchase them for your dwelling.
The charge for a bidet unit in the United States is more than what you pay in other countries where they are commonplace. In the Middle East, where you could pick up a unit for USD$20, they are the cheapest. Nonetheless, as their popularity grows, their price will come down.
Bidet attachments which can be fitted to conventional toilets are now being offered for sale in stores throughout the United States. They can include remote controls, fixed to the toilet seat, especially for use by the elderly to activate the water jets and air dryer.
Depending on requirements, the costs of these vary considerably. You can select from a variety of possibilities. There are a variety of possibilities from which it is possible for you to select. There are a wide range of designs, some luxurious, others less exotic. There are heated up seats, pulsating streams, adjustable temperature streams and built-in dryers.
So, it is possible to purchase a seat or attachment to be used with your conventional toilet or it is possible to purchase an ordinary bidet to sit in your bathroom separately beside your toilet. And it is possible to select from a range of extras.
Then, to cap it all off, it is possible to invite your neighbours in to try out of your new toilet!
