Clickbank is one of the most well-known and established digital product websites in the world where literally anybody can sign up as an affiliate and promote thousands of different products across all different kinds of market niches. The way that you can make money as an affiliate is that you are given a specific link called a hoplink, which contains your publisher id and the id of the product that you are promoting. When somebody clicks on this link, it will bounce them off of the clickbank servers and redirect them to the merchant website, and it will store a cookie in the web browser that contains the affiliate id so that you are given credit for the sale. Since affiliate marketing has become so prolific on the internet, many people are now able to recognize when a link is an affiliate link and are cautious about purchasing anything from that link because they know that the person who is putting it there may not be honest in what they are claiming and are just trying to make a sale. Using A PHP Redirect To Create Shorter Links A good way to make your links look cleaner so that it is not so apparent that they are affiliate links is to do something called a PHP redirect. This is not a difficult thing to do, however you will need to be able to FTP files to your hosting account. Type in "PHP redirect" in Google and you will find the simple three lines of code that it takes to do this redirect. Copy and paste this code into notepad, and then put your affiliate hoplink in the spot where there is space for a hyperlink. After you do this, name this file whatever you would like (simpler and cleaner names are better, that is the point!) and make sure that you put ".php" at the end and save the file to your desktop. Now upload this file to your server and you will have a much smaller and cleaner looking link that will boot your hoplink when it is entered into the browser, and anybody that clicks on it will likely be oblivious to the fact that it is a hoplink instead of a regular link. Final Check To Make Sure It Works So how do you make sure that your links are working properly? First of all click on the link you have made to make sure that it does the redirect correctly. Once you are on the merchant site, most of them will display a question mark in the address bar followed by your affiliate id. Some websites will use a script to hide the affiliate id which is a good thing for any affiliate marketer, so if this is the case what you will need to do is go to the purchase page and scroll down to the very bottom. If it worked the way it was supposed to then at the bottom of the page you should see a box that say "[affiliate = your.id]." Once you see this then you can start promoting your new link to generate leads and sales because you will know that your affiliate id is saving correctly in the web browser.
