Based in the city of Oakland, California -- the Raiders are a professional football team that was established back in 1960 when they were part of the American football league Western division until 1969, in 1970 they became part of the NFL and played under the American football conference West division, a division they have been part of until today. The Raiders have had several home fields, amongst them we have: the Kezar stadium, Candlestick Park, Frank Youell Field, Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the McAfee Stadium. The owner of the team is Al Davis who also serves as the general manager and head coach is Lane Kiffin. Championships and important moments: The Raiders have had numerous accomplishments and have earned several championships; they have been the American football conference champions in four different occasions (1976, 1980, 1983 and 2002); the Raiders have also amassed an amazing number of division championships starting from 1967 all the way to 2002 these include both AFL and AFC West divisions, the total division championships comes to 15. To top it all off they have also been AFL champions (1967) and have been Super Bowl champions in three different years: 1976, 1980 and finally in 1983 when they crushed the Washington Redskins by a scorer of 38 to 9. Quarterbacks in the current roster: -- Andrew Walter -- JaMarcus Russell -- Marques Tuiasosopo -- Jeff Ottis Oakland Raiders recent news: JaMarcus Russell one of the team's quarterbacks was held out of team drills for the second consecutive practice after banging his elbow against Darren McFadden helmet. The Raiders front and I hoped that their quarterback would be healthy enough to practice the day after hurting his elbow but that wasn't the case, recently the only practice that he has had involved some footwork and light passes. The Raiders have high hopes that Russell will make a full recovery sooner rather than later but in the meantime coach Kiffin made a good call by taking him out of the practices to avoid any further injury to the quarterback's elbow.
