Carpet, tile, marble, and other flooring choices just simply fall short of the look that hardwood floors provide. There are several variations of hardwood floors and they vary in durability, color, and thickness. Also, wood types for hardwood floors have different abilities as far as how long they will stay without damage and age. No matter what type of hardwood floors one selects, you will see the beauty and natural look each day you see them. Solid Wood Hardwood Flooring Solid wood flooring comes in two different ways: finished and unfinished. Unfinished solid wood panels must be sanded and finished after it is installed. Finished flooring comes sanded and finished and can be installed without preparation. Some like unfinished so that they can insure a good installation before finishing the floors. This makes it so the scratching or chipping that occurs with installation gets sanded before the completion of the finish. With solid wood hardwood floors, there are also three different types: Plank – Plank hardwood flooring comes in a measured thickness while the width of the planks can be different. Strip - Strip flooring is available as a set width, but the thickness can be different. Parquet – This kind of hardwood floor is totally different than that of a plank and strip type. Each piece of parquet is crafted to include geometrical patterns. These pieces or shape blocks are glued together with industrial grade glue or some type of nail. Engineered Wood Flooring This manufacturing of floor has some wood but is not all wood. The process of manufacturing engineered wood flooring involves the layering of plastic laminates over real wood. This type of flooring is much different than laminate flooring even though it uses laminates in the process. Acrylic-Impregnated Flooring This kind of floor is made by the inclusion of a sealant into the wood. The floor includes the brilliant color and glow of the sealant throughout the whole volume of the wood. Therefore, if you took down the woods surface all the way down, remaining would be the same radiance of color and luster that remains on the surface of the wood. Hardwood floors come in a few different types. When deciding on hardwood floors for your home, you should be conscious of a few different things. One of the first things to consider is cost. Hardwood flooring has a wide range in cost; you should always arrive on a budget before buying a hardwood flooring kind. Another thing is durability. Hardwood flooring comes in a wide range of strenths, hardness, and lifetime. With this change in durability, one should always consider traffic in the home, the presence of children, air quality, and elements of nature.
